GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING ADMISSION TO P.G, M.PHIL, POST M.SC. ADVANCED DIPLOMA, ADVANCED P.G DIPLOMA, POST P.G. DIPLOMA COURSES CONDUCTED UNDER REGULAR STREAM.

1)   M.Sc., Genomics (Duration – Two years)
A Bachelor’s degree in Science (55% marks in Part – III) in    any branch of Life Sciences – Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, or equivalent- Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Veterinary Sciences and Agriculture from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. Students with B.Tech. Degrees in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Bioinformatics, with Biology at +2 level are also qualified to apply.
           
            Note:  A minimum of 40% seats  will be allocated to candidates from out                         side Tamilnadu  State (Residence and Institution)
                                                                                                                                      
2)   M.Sc.,Microbial Gene Technology (M.Sc.,MGT) (Duration - Two years)

      A first class Bachelor’s degree in science courses where Biological Sciences – Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Microbial Technology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, etc, is either a Major or an Ancillary subject.  Students from professional courses such as MBBS, BVSc, BDS, B.Pharm, B.Sc.,Agriculture and related subjects from a recognized Indian or Foreign University are also eligible.

3)   M.Sc., Biochemical Technology (M.Sc.,BCT) (Duration – Two years)

A pass in B.Sc. degree (55% marks in Part III) in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/       Nutrition and Dietetics/ Microbiology/ Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry / Medical Laboratory Technology/Triple major with Biochemistry and allied subjects.

4)   M.C.A – Master of Computer Applications  (Duration – Three years)

a)                  Graduate in any discipline with Mathematics as compulsory subject at 10+2 level             
or
b)                                                                                                                        Graduate in  Computer Science / Computer Applications /  Software / IT

The graduates with (a) or (b) should have 55% of total  marks in Part III.

The candidates who have not studied Mathematics in +2 level but having studied the subjects:

(i)                 Business Mathematics
(ii)               Business Mathematics & Operational  Research
(iii)             Operations Research
(iv)             Business Mathematics and Statistics
(v)               Numerical Methods and Mathematics
only at graduate level are not eligible to apply.
 
5)         M.B.A – Master of Business Administration (Duration - Two years)
             A pass in any Bachelor’s degree

6)         M.B.A. Hospital Administration (Duration - Two years)
            A pass in any Bachelor’s degree

Admission for all the said courses based on Entrance Test, Seminar/Group Discussion and Interview.

7)         M.Sc. Electronics & Instrumentation (Duration – Two years)
            A pass in B.Sc.-Physics, Electronics, Applied Science,  Electronics &   Communication,   Instrumentation  or  Computer  Science  or  any  other  B.Sc,      degree  with  Physics  or  Electronics as ancillary subject with a minimum of       50% marks in Part III.  

For SC/ST candidates a pass in the above disciplines is required minimum.

8)         M.Sc.Sub-Aqua Marine Ecology & Toxicogenomics (SAM& TG) - (Duration       
                                                                                                                       –  (Two years)
Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Life Sciences. (Biology/ Biochemistry/ Botany/ Zoology/ Marine Biology/ Microbiology/ Bio- technology or equivalent of a recognized Indian or Foreign University are eligible).  Candidates should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the   subject (Part III). 50% marks for SC & ST categories.                               


9)         Post M.Sc. Advanced Diploma Course in Plant Genetic Engineering                  (ADCPGE) - one year – DBT funded studentship Rs.5,000/- p.m
            A  first  Class  (60% and above) M.Sc. Degree  in  Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/  Bio-chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Microbiology/ Life Sciences/ Agriculture or  other related  M.Sc. Courses (Minimum marks for SC/ST candidates is 50%)

Admissions for S.No. 7,8 & 9 of courses based on Entrance Test marks only.



Entrance Test Centres for the said courses:

Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Mumbai, New Delhi & Thiruvananthapuram.

Tamilnadu Govt. Reservation Policy will be strictly followed for admission to the said courses.  For Post M.Sc. Advanced Diploma course in Plant Genetic Engineering the Central Govt. Reservation Policy will be followed.

Notification will be issued in the leading dailies for inviting applications for the said courses during January of every year. The Entrance Test will be  conducted in the month of March/April and the Group Discussion and the Interview in the I week of June and admission will be done in the II & III week of June every year.

Applications & Prospectus are available after issue of notification in the University website 

The University reserves the right to offer or to suspend any course without assigning any reason.

If sufficient numbers of applications are not received, the University reserves the right to cancel the Entrance Test Centre mentioned above.


            OTHER P.G. COURSES  - (Duration - Two years)

1)   M.A. Tamil
A pass in any Bachelor’s degree with Tamil as language under Part-I/II/III

2)   M.Sc. Mathematics
A pass in B.Sc. Maths / Special Maths / Applied Science with 55% of total marks in Part III.

3)   M.Sc. Physics
A pass in B.Sc. Physics/ Applied Physics with 55% of total marks in Part III.

      4)   M.Sc. Chemistry
A pass in B.Sc. Chemistry/ Special Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry degree with Physics as one of the ancillaries and other any one of the ancillaries viz.                 Maths, Botany or Zoology with 55% of total marks.

5)      M.Sc. Computer Science
A pass in B.Sc. Computer Science/ Computer Technology/ Computer Science & I.T. / I.T. & Management/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Statistics/ Applied Science/ Electronics/ B.C.A. with  55% of total marks in Part III.

6)      M.Sc. Geography
A pass in B.A. Geography/ B.Sc. Geography with 55% of  total marks in Part III.

7)      M.Sc. Earth Remote Sensing and Geo. Information Technology
A pass in B.Sc. degree in any subject/B.E. in Civil / Arch ./ Town planning and Country Planning with 50% of total marks in Part III.

8)      M.Sc.Environmental Sciences
B.Sc. in any branch of Life sciences (Biology/ Bio-chemistry/ Botany/ Zoology/ Bio-technology/ Physics/ Chemistry) passing minimum of 50% marks for all communities /Categories.      
    
9)   M.P.Ed.  (NCTE approved)
            A pass in B.P.Ed/B.P.Es/B.P.E with 50% of marks. Inter-collegiate or    Inter District Sports participation in any one of the games/sports is essential.

            In addition to the Entrance Test, Practical Examination & Viva-voce will be conducted on the same day of the Entrance Test.

     10)  Advanced Post Graduate Diploma Course in Geographical Information        System (GIS) 
            A pass in any Post-graduate disciplines in Science and B.E. graduates

A pass in Telugu/ Tamil/ Kannada/ Malayalam of any Bachelor's degree

      14) M.A. Kannada
   A pass in Kannada under Part I/II/III of any Bachelor's degree

      15) M.A.Sanskrit
A pass in BA / B.Sc with Sanskrit under Part I/II/III OR a pass in Oriental  Title Sironmani OR any graduate with a pass in Diploma in Sanskrit OR any graduate with an aptitude in Sanskrit, who possess the Aptitude test & undergoes the Bridge course conducted by the Sanskrit Department of the College/University.               

16)  M.A.English
A pass in any Bachelor's degree with English as language under Part I/II/III.

19)  M.A.Political Science
A pass in any Bachelor's degree

      20) M.A.Public Administration
      A pass in any Bachelor's degree

      21) M.A.Sociology
A pass in any Bachelor's degree except commerce

      22) M.A.Philosophy and Religion
A pass in any Bachelor's degree

23) M.A.Folklore
A pass in any Bachelor's degree

24) M.A. History
A pass in B.A. History

      25) M.Ed. (Duration - one year)

Any P.G degree holder with a minimum of 50% marks  in B.Ed. aggregate in percentage rounded to two decimals + weightage of 5% for candidate with 55% and above in P.G  OR weightage of  10% for M.Phil. degree holders.

A pass in any Bachelor's degree

25)   M.Phil.Materials Science
A pass in M.Sc. Physics/ Chemistry/Materials Science /Applied Sciences with  55% of total marks.

26)   M.Phil.Geography
A pass in M.A. / M.Sc. Geography and M.Sc (ERS & GIT) OR any other equivalent M.Sc. degree with 55% of total marks.
27)     M.Phil.Journalism & Mass Communication

 Master’s Degree of this University or of any other University recognized by the University as equivalent thereto in any discipline related to Social Entrepreneurship such as Business Administration, Commerce, Social work, Energy, Environment and Natural Sciences etc., that are related to Entrepreneurship with not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate. 
 For SC/ST candidates 50% of marks is required minimum for all the above M.Phil. courses.
