National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) for PG Courses in Jan-Feb 2012 – MCI
Download Core Syllabus of NEET 2012 (Undergraduate) / MBBS - The Medical Council of India (MCI) has prepared and uploaded an all new higher secondary syllabus, required to be followed by class XI and XII students, to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET).
As per the MCI communication, a meeting on July 18, chaired by the Union Health Secretary and attended by officials including from the MCI, the Central Board of Secondary Education and the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, was informed that after the March 29 national meet with the stakeholders, a booklet was released. It was decided to make the core syllabus for NEET-UG available on the MCI website for feedback from the stakeholders, and the syllabus for NEET-PG in August.
Karnataka govt's ‘no’ to single CET for MBBS The Karnataka government has opposed the Centre’s decision to conduct a national-level single common entrance test for medical undergraduate courses from next year. Reacting to the decision at a meeting in New Delhi on Monday, state medical education minister SA Ramdas said, “I have already written to the Centre asking some questions on the issue. I am yet to receive a reply to them. So, we have decided not to agree with the idea of a single CET.” >>> More
Medical Council of India (MCI) proposes National Eligibility Test for PG Admissions
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will allow plus two students to sit in a single entrance examination to get admission to almost all medical colleges in the country, including private medical colleges, from 2012 academic year.
A single merit list will be created for close to 35,000 MBBS seats across the country, which will show state, minorities and SC/ST quotas.
The entrance examination would cover all medical colleges except the Armed Forces Medical College and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh may be outside the NEET’s purview as these institutes were set up by separate laws
While the MCI will not touch the management quota, it insists that even management quota candidates should come from the national merit list. The objective was to set up a standard for basic medical education. The minority institutions would continue to have a quota and a private college could have a management quota. But the reserved seats would have to be filled on the basis of merit
